Capitol Day

  • Oklahoma State Capitol 2300 North Lincoln Boulevard Oklahoma City, OK, 73105 United States (map)

For our monthly Capitol Day in May, we're partnering up with theOklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy for Child Advocacy Day at the State Capitol, beacuse we want to shine a big ol' light on one group of Oklahomans that really deserve our help: children.

That's right, this one's for the kids.

Literally every issue discussed at the Capitol affects our children. Even if it doesn't impact them right away, eventually they're going to grow up and live in the world we've created for them...whatever it may look like. And with the budget crisis still looming over us, cuts to education and healthcare have never been more threatening.

As with every month, the true purpose of the Let's Fix This Capitol Days is to get regular people to go to the state Capitol and talk to their legislators about whatever issues are most important to them. We know going to the Capitol can be intimidating, and we want to change that. We'll be at the Capitol with a group of people to provide you some info and insight, help you find where you're going, and to schedule a few minutes to talk to your Representative and/or Senator.

9:00am Advocacy Training (2nd floor, Blue Room)
10:00am Visit legislators' offices / observe House & Senate in session
11:30am Lunch on your own, or register & attend the OICA Child Advocate's Lunch!
