The Oklahoma Civic Engagement Table is a collective impact project focused on increasing civic engagement and building voting power throughout the state. The Table is a network of nonpartisan 501(c)(3) organizations that collaborate on civic access and voting rights, voter modernization, civic engagement and representation, and leadership development. We share a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and justice in all aspects of our work.
Our work is centered on engaging and empowering underrepresented communities, building sustainable power needed to eliminate barriers to civic participation, and guaranteeing that policy-making is guided by the public. This work requires vision and long-form campaign planning. The full participation of the Oklahoma electorate cannot be achieved through one election cycle, one legislative fight, or one campaign.
Let’s Fix This and the Oklahoma Civic Engagement Table are committed to engaging and empowering the New American Majority—historically underrepresented and marginalized communities such as young people (under 34), women, and people of color. Progress toward this goal is achieved through coordinated programs in four key areas:
Increasing civic engagement (voter registration, electoral participation, advocacy, and activism led by and for members of the New American Majority),
Removing barriers to voting access (improved election administration and voting modernization,
Ensuring representation (accurate Census-taking and fair redistricting),
Achieving racial equity in the progressive community (including building power in communities of color, growing the capacity of their leaders and organizations, facilitating equitable access to resources, and addressing bias in the operation of tables and execution of programs.)
